The Knavses family

When Melania and Barron Trump moved from Trump Tower in New York City to the White House during the summer of 2017, Melania's parents, Viktor Knavs, 78, and Amalija Knavs, 75, accompanied them on the trip. They've since become familiar faces in the nation's capital—and can often be seen traveling alongside President Trump and the First Lady. Here's what you should know about the couple that raised Melania Trump.

The Knavses took an oath of citizenship in August 2018 after appearing at the federal immigration offices in New York City. Prior to that time, Melania's parents had been permanent U.S. residents living in the country with green cards.

Barron is very close to grandparents, with whom he reportedly speaks Slovenian, and Politico described them as "hyperinvolved" in his lifePolitico also reported in 2017 that Melania's parents would "become more familiar figures around the White House"—much the way Michelle Obama's mother Marian Robinson did when she moved into the presidential mansion. According to The New York Times, the Knavs "split their time among an apartment in Trump Tower, Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida and the suite in the White House once used by Mrs. Obama’s mother."

Viktor and Amalija Knavs are pictured far left with the rest of the Trump family on stage at the Republican National Convention;
They regularly travel with the first family.

They were at the National Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning Ceremony in the Rose Garden on November 21, 2017. They traveled to Mar-a-Lago with the first family to celebrating Thanksgiving, too. They live part-time in the White House.

Prior to their Washington, D.C. move, the Knavs family were close to the rest of the Trump family—a pattern they've followed since their daughter married Donald Trump. They reportedly lived in Trump Tower in Manhattan, and are frequent fixtures at Mar-a-Lago, a member of the club explained.
The first lady was born in Sevnica, a small town with about 5,000 residents that's an hour's drive from Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital. During Melania's childhood, Slovenia was known as Yugoslavia and was under the rule of Communist President Josip Tito. The Knavses reportedly "still own their house in Sevnica;
on the July 2002 trip, the couple landed on Trump's Boeing 727 in Ljubljana at 8 p.m. and they drove to dinner with the Knavses at the Grand Hotel Toplice on Lake Bled, where they ate onion escalope with pan-fried potatoes, and forest blueberries, and Melania interpreted. On the way out, Trump reportedly asked Viktor, "Is this place for sale?" The mogul was "back at the airport before midnight."
They maintain close ties to Sevnica, their hometown in Slovenia.

Anwar’s Bukit Segambut bungalow selling for RM12 million

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has put his bungalow home in Bukit Segambut, Kampung Segambut Dalam in Kuala Lumpur up for sale at an asking price of RM12 million.

It is understood that the original selling price for the house was RM15 million. However, this was reduced to RM12 million on Mudah.my today.

Sources told MalaysiaNow that the house was put up for sale after the Port Dickson MP moved to his new home in Sungai Long, Kajang, Selangor, about a year ago.

Anwar’s home in Bukit Segambut has changed hands several times already from its first owner, one Fauziah, on Oct 11, 1979 to the second, Tan Chong, on Nov 6, 1997.

On Aug 5, 2005, it was transferred to Anwar’s name, not long after he was freed from prison in 2004.

Before moving to Bukit Segambut, Anwar had stayed in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.

On March 7, 2019, the opposition leader declared his total asset worth at RM10.74 million.

The declaration of assets was submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as requested by the government for all Pakatan Harapan MPs and representatives.

The property worth included the estimated current value of his home in Bukit Segambut of RM9.5 million. It was originally bought for RM4.5 million from the proceeds of the sale of his Bukit Damansara home.

Anwar also declared a plot of land in Permatang Habib, Mukim Penor, Kuantan, Pahang, bought in 1974 for RM7,000.

About Kit Fai Chong

This is Kit Fai Chong, people in the parish call me Augustine. Now aging to 70, I am interested in writing and painting. I am living with my wife in Richmond Hill in Ontario, Canada. This is my 21 years' living in Canada since my immigration in 1993 from Hong Kong, where I was born and got my second degree. My first degree was gotten in 1973 in Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.

My early part of life was trained in business education, however, my career job in Hong Kong, as well as that in Canada was in education. I worked as a teacher up to 2011 and retired in the same year. My inclination for painting was discovered as early as 10 year old in the school where the teacher in the art class circulated my work around the class for reference to other students. My interest for art and painting was fully buried for forty or so years owing to full commitment of my career job. It was until 2011 I picked it up again. To my surprise, I found my skill for oil painting was fast developing without aid from teachers. I like to look at nature, the sky, the sea and landscape where I can obtain unlimited ideas for drawing, mainly to put the natural beauty onto the canvas.

I like to write too, the first book is about my life ( The Era of a Great Age ), and the other book is politic/religion about the people in China
( A Nation Living In Custody ). The second book is a severe critic to the life of all Chinese in China from a religious point of view since God's creation. They were written in Chinese, however, I like to share my points of view with people of political/religious concern.

Kit Fai Chong joined Fine Art America on December 3rd, 2014.

Ronald Myles Dworkin, philosopher of law

Dworkin was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. His parents, David and Madeline (nee Talamo) separated when he was a baby, and his mother, a promising concert pianist, worked as a music teacher in Providence, Rhode Island, to support Ronald and his brother and sister. He went to a public school in Providence with a classical tradition, and won a scholarship to Harvard, where he achieved straight As in all his four years' classes.

Dworkin arrived as a Rhodes scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, with a formidable reputation. Dons all but bowed before his record. He chose to read law, but he hung out with philosophers. (He also played a lot of bridge, much of it with his lifelong friend Guido Calabresi, later dean of the Yale Law School and an appeal court judge in Connecticut, New York and Vermont.) His Oxford finals papers were as impeccable as the Harvard ones: straight alphas, after straight As. His two years at Oxford finished, he went back to Harvard, this time to read law. The law school gave him credit for his Oxford degree, so there were areas of the law (including criminal law) he never studied.

The conventional start to a brilliant legal career in the US is to work as a clerk to a leading judge. In 1957 Dworkin, on the basis of his exceptional record at Harvard, was chosen to clerk for Judge Learned Hand, then in his late 80s and the most eminent judge in the land outside the supreme court. Often Hand's clerks went on to work for Justice Felix Frankfurter, and were made for life.

Hand explained that he did not need Dworkin to draft opinions for him: "I don't know how you write," the great man said. "I write very well." He asked him instead to read what he had written. This led immediately to a difference of opinion. Hand was writing a series of Oliver Wendell Holmes lectures for Harvard in which he questioned whether the Brown case (Brown v School Board, in which the supreme court, in 1954, held for the first time that racially segregated education was necessarily unconstitutional) had been wrongly decided. Dworkin bravely challenged Hand to say publicly that Brown was wrong.

While he was working for Hand, Dworkin met his future wife Betsy Ross, the daughter of a successful businessman from the New York garment district who lived on Fifth Avenue. On one of their first dates, Dworkin told her that he had to drop off a document at the judge's house and asked her to come with him, saying it would take only a second.

In 1961, Betsy had twins, Anthony, who now works on human rights and democracy at the European Council on Foreign Relations thinktank, and Jennifer, an award-winning documentary film producer. In the same year, Dworkin was made a professor at the Yale Law School, and also master of one of the Yale residential colleges, Trumbull. It fell to him in the late 60s to have to deal with the student unrest. Dworkin left Yale and became a professor at the New York University Law School. Arthur Schlesinger persuaded him that he would be happier in New York than at His books were immensely influential, especially in US law schools. He published many articles both in technical law journals and also in the New York Review of Books.

Ronald Myles Dworkin, philosopher of law_(To be continued)

After that came A Matter of Principle (1985), about the sources of law, and Law's Empire (1986), a full-dress theory of law. In Life's Dominion (1993) he tried characteristically to find common ground on abortion between pro-life and pro-choice forces in a common respect for human life.

Dworkin's big idea was to put human dignity at the centre of his moral system, for judges and for others. "If we manage to lead a good life," he wrote, "we make our lives tiny diamonds in the cosmic sands."

In 2000, Betsy died of cancer. Dworkin formed a close friendship with Irene Brendel, wife of the pianist Alfred Brendel, and they later married. He is survived by Irene, Anthony and Jennifer, and two grandchildren.

Ronald Myles Dworkin, philosopher of law, born 11 December 1931; died 14 February 2013either Harvard or Yale. "New York is for grownups," the historian said gnomically.
