Beatrice married on Friday wearing both a tiara and vintage dress

For Princess Beatrice, this was the ultimate ‘something borrowed’.A patriotic choice for Beatrice;
Fashion is so often used to make a statement and this gown, personally loaned by the Queen, sends a huge message of her support to a much-loved granddaughter on her wedding day.
The Queen Mary tiara – worn by the Queen when she married Prince Philip in 1947 and loaned to her only daughter Princess Anne on hers – also signifies the warmth of feeling.

Beatrice on Friday
A very traditional design, it is beautifully crafted from peau de soie taffeta and features a geometric, chequered bodice encrusted with diamanté.
There have been amendments to the original, of course, to allow for Beatrice’s height and the modesty of a Royal bride in church. Angela Kelly, the Queen’s personal dresser, and Stewart Parvin, Her Majesty’s favourite dressmaker, remodelled and refitted the dress to Beatrice’s size and tastes.
A longer sleeve, for example, might have been more fashionable but then Beatrice has never been in thrall to fashion labels and the puffed organza sleeves show her playful style. A sleek trim of ivory Duchess satin at the bottom of the gown allows for added length.
Hartnell had an astonishing rise to fame from creating uniforms for Selfridges ‘lift girls’ in the early 1920s to designing for royalty.

The dress was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell and worn by Her Majesty at the 1962 film premiere of Lawrence Of Arabia at London’s Leicester Square Odeon where the Queen met leading man Peter O’Toole.

Besides designing two of the most important dresses of the 20th Century – the Queen’s wedding dress and the outfit for her 1953 Coronation – he is also credited with turning London into a fashion hub to rival Paris.
The secluded Chapel of All Saints is opposite Royal Lodge, so Prince Andrew walked the bride to the church and down the aisle. The Queen and Prince Philip had slipped in a through a side entrance, thus maintaining social distancing.
The church was decorated with pink and white delphiniums, roses, waxflower and hydrangeas from Windsor Great Park.
Beatrice carried a bouquet of trailing jasmine, pale pink and cream sweet peas, royal porcelain ivory spray roses, pink O'Hara garden roses, pink wax flower, baby pink astilbe and springs of myrtle. During the 30-minute service,

But when your family's worth £11.9billion, who needs to worry about cost?
Fifty-year-old Sanjay Hinduja wed Anu Mahtani in one of the most exclusive hotels in the Indian city of Udaipur, Jagmandir Island Palace.

In one of the most stunning weddings ever held in a country famed for its Bollywood spectaculars, cuisine from at least 16 countries was served to 16,000 delighted guests in a week-long celebration of the union.

Once people arrived in Udaipur, they were chauffeured around in an elite fleet of top class BMWs, specially flown in from Mumbai.

In order to reach their glamorous hotel, 14 fully decorated boats were laid on.

It is rumoured the bride's make up was done by Mac's director of make up artistry for India, Mickey Contractor.

However, this wasn't the only event thrown to celebrate the marriage.
It is understood two other parties were held the week before - possibly to accommodate the sheer number of guests.

It all kicked off with a party at the Taj Mahal Palace, in Mumbai, last Friday welcoming the 'who's who' of Bollywood - including Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff, according to Yahoo India.

THE CLASSIC RAGS-TO-RICHES STORY OF THE HINDUJAS

THE RAGS T0 £11.9BILLION RICHES STORY OF THE HINDUJAS

It is your classic rags-to-riches story for a family now said to be worth £11.9 billion.
The Hinduja brothers built their empire from humble beginnings in the Indian subcontinent and came top of Britain’s rich list in 2015.

The family business was started by father Parmanand, in 1914 when he arrived in Mumbai, or Bombay as it was then, to learn the art of commerce and founded the Hinduja Company.

Just five years later, he had expanded abroad, moving operations to Iran where the company remained until the overthrow of the Shah in 1979.

Known in their native India as the Fab Four, all of the brothers are teetotal and vegetarian. Sri and Gopi moved to London, third brother, Prakash, lives in Geneva and the fourth, Ashok, remains in Mumbai. Sri – who is also known as SP – took over control of the global company following the death of his father in 1971.

Over the years, the family have not been without their share of controversy.

Following a £1million donation towards the ‘Faith Zone’ in the Millenium Dome, it transpired that Peter Madelson had speeded up Sri’s application for a British passport, forcing him to resign.

In another incident, the brothers were accused of accepting kickbacks from now defunct Swedish Bofors Company as part of a deal to buy guns – an allegation flatly denied by the family and thrown out by Delhi High Court.

The family’s Ashok Leyland company caused controversy when it announced it was selling army vehicles to the Sudan army, claiming they were not for military use.

Comedian and campaigner Mark Thomas claimed it contravened UK arms export legislation but a report he filmed for Newsnight was pulled after the claims were disputed by lawyers for the family.

The family remain one of the most powerful in world business with former President Bill Clinton and many British politicians, counted as friends.

They have shared their extraordinary wealth by funding scholarships, hospitals and charitable foundations.

Sanjay is the eldest son of the Hinduja family, who are known for their love of an expensive wedding.

The 1996 joint wedding of the three Hinduja sons, Ajay, Ramkrishnan and Dheeraj, was attended by almost 10,000 people.

In 2009, the family decided to 'trim down' one cousin's wedding. That time, they only invited 6,000 people.

Chinese Women Western Men Celebrity Couples

Wendi Deng Rupert Murdoch wedding picture
Wedding picture of Wendi Deng (29) and Rupert Murdoch (66)

Statistics claim that the most common pattern among interracial couples is the one where White men are married to Asian women.
In such case it shouldn’t be difficult to find also celebrity couples following this pattern. So, I decided to do some search and it resulted in the list of 10 couples in which Chinese woman is dating or married to a non-Chinese man, and at least one of them is a well-known personality.
These couples are presented in the reverse order (from 10th to 1st) according to my subjective perception of their celebrity status.

    Zhu Chen and Mohammed Al-Modiakhi

    Zhu Chen and Mohammed Al-Modiahki
Zhu Chen is the former World Chess Champion among women. She held this title from 2001 to 2004. In 2001 she married a Qatari grandmaster Mohammed Al-Modiakhi. They met during one of the chess tournaments in Malaysia and it was love from the first sight. Today Zhu Chen lives in Qatar and represents this country in chess tournaments.

    Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt

    Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt

Michelle Yeoh is the Malaysian actress of Chinese origin best known to Western audience as a “Bond girl” in the movie “Tomorrow never Dies”. People Magazine few times included her in the list of most beautiful women and that’s why her relationship with the former CEO of Ferrari racing team Jean Todt is sometimes called “Beauty and the Beast”.

     Laura Ling and Iain Clayton
    Laura Ling and Iain Clayton
Iain Clayton meets his wife Laura ling after her release from North Korea

The journalist Laura Ling is famous for being detained for few months in North Korean prison. Sentenced to 11 years of labor camps she has been released only after the personal intervention of the former U.S. president Bill Clinton. Upon her arrival home she was met by her husband Iain Clayton – pictures of this meeting becoming popular all over the world. And less than a year later the couple welcomed their first baby.

    7. Jennifer Chun and George Soros

    George Soros and Jennifer Chun

George Soros is not only a famous businessman and philanthropist. He is also a well-known “womanizer” constantly changing his romantic interests. One of his latest interests was the Chinese American violinist Jennifer Chun.

    6. Lucy Liu and Zach Helm

    Lucy Liu and Zach Helm

No – they didn’t make it to altar. But one of the “Charlie’s Angels” has been dating and even engaged to Zach Helm – American writer and film director. He possibly regrets the missed chance. After all, in 2007 Lucy Liu was featured in the list of 100 sexiest movie stars.

    Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld

    Amy Chua family
    "Tiger Mom" and her family

Yes, the famous “Tiger Mom” who presents herself as a symbol of strict Chinese parenting is not married to Chinese but to a Jewish American – Jed Rubenfeld – who is also teaching Law in Yale University. Curious fact: as Amy Chua says herself her two daughters “can speak Chinese, and they have been raised Jewish”.

     Zhang Ziyi and Aviv Nevo
    Zhang Ziyi and Vivi Nevo

Zhang Ziyi is one of the best known to Western audience mainland Chinese actresses. She is also considered by many as one of the most beautiful women in China. Maybe this is one of the reasons why some Chinese felt “betrayed” when she started dating an Israeli venture capitalist Aviv Nevo. Last year, however, the couple split – Zhang Ziyi quoting cultural differences as the main reason for their break-up.

    Wendi Deng and Rupert Murdoch

    Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng

If you look for the epitome of gold-digger, look no further. Wendi Deng is a perfect example. First she got acquainted with American couple (Jake and Joyce Cherry) who were doing business in China and used them to get a student visa to America. Later she broke this couple and married Jake Cherry earning the green card. But soon they divorced because Wendi started seeing another man. And her searches for Mr. Right have finished only when at the age of 29, she met the multimillionaire Rupert Murdoch – then 66 years old – and married him 2 years later.

    Tinglan Hong and Hugh Grant

    Hugh Grant girlfriend
There are rumors that Hugh Grant's Chinese girlfriend is pregnant!

When Hugh Grant came to Hainan to participate in the golf tournament for celebrities, he possibly was infected with “Yellow fever”. How else can you explain his words at one press-conference:
“I am very happy to contemplate (getting) a Chinese girlfriend. I must say I’m very charmed by Chinese women, so far. I’ve been here only 24 hours, but I’ve fallen in love four times.”
And it seems that he indeed has found a Chinese girlfriend – 19 years his junior Tinglan Hong.

    Priscilla Chan and Mark Zu

    ckerberg

    Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan
Not all millionaires are old and bald. Take, for example, Mark Zuckerberg – the founder of social network Facebook. At the age of 27 his personal wealth is estimated to be $13.5 billion. And there was always a high probability that the girl who could share this money with him would be of Asian origin. On his Friendster page (from pre-Facebook period?) in the section “What I enjoy doing” Mark wrote… “asian girls”. And it seems to be true. Since recently his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan became official

North Yorkshire set for tourism boom - 1,000-year-old Selby Abbey

A small town in North Yorkshire, England, has gained notoriety in Asia after Taiwanese pop star, Jay Chou, held his wedding at Selby's 1,000-year-old abbey.
For his marriage to model Hannah Quinlivan, the star opted for Selby Abbey for the ceremony and the nearby home of Castle Howard for the reception.

Though he may be relatively unknown in Britain, Chou is one of the biggest stars that Taiwan has ever produced, even being nicknamed the 'New King of Asian Pop.'

Since announcing his marriage last week, both venues have already been visited by hundreds of fans, inspiring tour operators to add the locations to their itineraries.
In fact, Castle Howard is now translating its wedding brochure to respond to enquiries from Asia.

'We have also seen an increase in enquiries from Chinese outbound-tour operators, so hope to see an increase in groups visiting us over the summer and during our Christmas opening,' Hannah Cooke, a spokeswoman for Castle Howard, said.

The 36-year-old singer, actor and director, unsurprisingly, chose a regal theme for his grand fairytale affair.

His 21-year-old bride, whose Chinese name is Wu Yi-Chen, wore a white Tudor-inspired gown and a diamond-encrusted tiara worth over £1.25 million.

Weddings at the 4,050-hectare estate start at £8,000 with a rental of the main house coming in at about £15,000.

Most of the fans who have visited over the past week are Asian visitors already studying overseas in Britain, according to the abbey's vicar.

Unlike York, Selby Abbey had not previously received many visitors from Asia, but this is expected to change following the recent festivities.

Chou, who is often credited with reviving the Mandarin music scene, is known for his blend of traditional Chinese instrument sounds and hip hop and R&B.

Recently, he also directed and starred in 2007's Secret and acted as Kato in The Green Hornet, alongside Seth Rogen.

Chou's wedding also comes on the heels of the UK trialling easing up on visa application requirements for Chinese citizens.

Introducing the future prince and princess of Monaco

The Palace of Monaco has released a set of images of Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife Charlene posing with their twin babies Jacques and Gabriella at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.

The Christmas-themed photographs show a smitten pair of parents gazing at their newborn children, with Princess Gabriella in pink and Prince Jaques in baby blue.

Gabriella was born first at 5.04pm, and Jacques at 5.06pm, but it is Jacques who will be the future Prince of Monaco, because of the Mediterranean principality's male inheritance laws.

The Palace of Monaco have released a set of images of Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife Charlene posing with their twin babies Jacques and Gabriella at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco

They are the first children for the 36-year-old former South African Olympic swimmer, who married Prince Albert II, 56, three years ago.

Prince Albert was by his wife's side as the children were delivered on December 10 at the Princess Grace Hospital, which is named after Albert's mother, the late Hollywood star, Grace Kelly.

In the UK, only one set of royal twins has ever been born - to King James I of Scotland and his wife Joan Beaufort in 1430.

It is thought that the twins were welcomed via caesarean section, but the doctor delivering them had no more than a symbolic hand in deciding the destiny of the Grimaldi dynasty.

In principle, there's no medical reason a doctor would have an active role in deciding which newborn is delivered first, even in the case of a caesarean section, an expert said.

'The obstetrician will always deliver first the twin that presents itself first when the uterus is opened at the time of caesarean section,' said Dr. Patrick O'Brien,

spokesman for Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 'We don't decide in advance which twin to deliver first.'

Had they both been of the same sex, the first one out would have taken the throne but because the Monégasque twins are a boy and a girl, the boy will automatically inherit.

The glamorous couple pictured before the arrival of the twins at (l-r) a dinner at Opera terraces after their religious wedding ceremony in July 2011 in Monaco, dancing during the 63rd Red Cross Ball at the Sporting Monte-Carlo in August 2011 and at a dinner for foreign Sovereigns to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee at Buckingham Palace in London in May 2012
