A Wedding Banquet in Toronto

Moses and Aimee Chan’s Wedding Banquet in Toronto

Moses Chan (陳豪) and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) celebrated their marriage union with their family in Toronto on July 17. Although the couple wed in a small ceremony in Paris in June, the second wedding celebration was held in Toronto due to Aimee’s family residing there. At the banquet, the couple kissed repeatedly and when Aimee thanked her parents in taking care of her, she shed tears of happiness.

Banquet at Aimee’s Father’s Restaurant
The banquet was held at the well-known Legend Chinese Restaurant (麗晶酒家), in which Aimee’s father is an investor. Approximately 160 guests were invited to the wedding feast, which served abalone, lobster, and seafood delicacies. The banquet reportedly cost $200,000 HKD. Moses’ mother and elder brother were present, along with Aimee’s family.

Four months pregnant, a curvier Aimee looked vibrant in a low-cut navy evening dress with three-inch high heels. Aimee’s doctor reportedly said that there is a high chance that she is carrying a baby boy. At the wedding, Aimee was spotted rubbing her belly, while Moses was glued by her side to make sure his wife was comfortable.

Known for his attentiveness, Moses won the favor of his new father-in-law. At the banquet, Aimee’s father, Mr. Chan, clarified that reports claiming he was upset about the  low-profile wedding celebrations were false. Mr. Chan added, “The wedding banquet was actually planned last year. I am very satisfied with [Moses]. He is gentle and speaks quietly.”

The banquet was lively and anchored by a local MC. Guests stayed until 12 midnight, and fans of Moses and Aimee waited patiently outside the restaurant to send their blessings to the couple. The banquet received widespread coverage among the Chinese media in the Toronto area as well.

A Tight Security Event

Legend Chinese Restaurant is located in Thornhill, a suburban neighborhood within the Greater Toronto Area that is home to an active Chinese community. The restaurant is known for its Cantonese dim sum, and received generally positive reviews from its customers. Since the mid-sized venue can only serve about 20 tables, and because of its popularity among the Chinese in the area, Moses and Aimee were at first hesitant to hold their celebration there. A source revealed that the couple decided to go ahead with the original plan out of respect for Aimee’s father. “Many said that Moses’s father-in-law insisted on having the banquet at Legend Chinese Restaurant. This restaurant, and even the entire plaza, are owned by Aimee’s godfather Mr. Law. They have a very good relationship, so it is understandable that Mr. Law wants to celebrate his goddaughter’s marriage at his own place.”

Moses and Aimee ramped up security for their big event, fencing off the sidewalk and requesting restaurant employees to keep mum about the details. The couple expected around 20 reporters to show up outside of the restaurant, including several from Hong Kong who flew in with Moses on Monday night to cover the event. Aimee’s family was particularly nervous about the media, and Aimee’s father was rumored to have recruited local police to stand guard during the event.

To avoid unwanted visitors, guests were only allowed to enter the restaurant if they presented the banquet invitation. Despite a reported ban on guest photography during the banquet, leaked photos showed Moses and Aimee both beaming in happiness.

On her Weibo account, Aimee later posted a thank you message to guests who attended the wedding, “Merci Beaucoup! A very heartfelt thank-you to everyone for your generous blessings and good wishes! It has made the beginning of life together extra special that we were able to share our happiness with all of you! May sunshine and love follow you wherever you choose to go!”
